BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION
MIDDLESBROUGH employers are being urged to join an employee service which bridges the gap between education and employment.
Online platform globalbridge allows young people to showcase their talents and achievements to educational institutions and industry, while allowing them to search for schools, universities and businesses that offer the opportunities they are seeking.
It also provides universities and businesses with a searchable, fully customisable database to identify individuals who satisfy specific career aspirations, skills, interests and goals.
To encourage businesses in Middlesbrough to sign up, Middlesbrough Achievement Partnership (MAP) is hosting an event to outline the benefits the online platform brings.
It is viewed as an exciting opportunity for Middlesbrough to be the first local authority area in the country to adopt such a platform to digitally connect a pathway between education and industry.
It will not only increase opportunities for young people, but enable employers to identify and engage with their future workforce earlier.
MAP will fund the joining fee for the first 100 employers attending the event and wishing to sign up.
Middlesbrough Mayor Dave Budd said: “Here in Middlesbrough and across Teesside we have a full and wide range of business and employment opportunities for all and we also have very skilled young people.
“globalbridge is a modern way of bringing the two together in an easy to use format and we’d like to encourage local employers to consider using it as a tool to find the right people for their business.”
Macmillan Academy, one of the first schools in Middlesbrough to join the platform, will host the event to be held 2pm–3.15pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. To book at place visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/global-bridge-bridging-the-gap-between-employment-and-education-tickets-46707211527
