Threshold Training, West Middlesbrough Children’s Centre – Friday 7th September 2018

Middlesbrough Council has reviewed its training offer for the Thresholds, resulting in the training being updated in line with Middlesbrough Children Services Transformation Programme. John Scadden and Emma Wright are offering a 2 hour training session for Middlesbrough Services only. The next session will be held on Friday 7th September at West Middlesbrough Children’s Centr0065 from 1.30 – 3.30 pm. For details on booking and alternative future dates click here

Save The Children Families Connect Training, Middlesbrough – 12th &13th September 2018

Save The Children are offering Middlesbrough primary schools 20 funded training places (two participants per school) available for Families Connect training on 12th and 13th September at Acklam Green Centre, Middlesbrough, and attendance is required at both days. The Families Connect programme increases parents’ skills and confidence to support their child’s learning, reducing the impact of poverty on their future, focusing on supporting parents and children to learn together in three key areas:

  • Literacy and language development
  • Numeracy
  • Emotional development

My Family Plan Training, Levick Court – Thursday 13th September 2018

The Early Help Assessment has been redesigned into ‘My Family Plan’ and one day training is being delivered by the Family Partnership Team Manager, John Scadden. The next session will be held on Thursday 13th September at Levick Court, 22 Levick Court, Middlesbrough, TS5 5JR from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm. Early Help Briefing Mop-Up Session, My Place – Friday 14th September 2018

Following on from the ‘education specific’ Early Help briefings held in May and June, the Family Partnership Team are offering a Mop-Up Session of the same briefing for those who were not able to attend previous sessions. MAP PSA Restorative Practice Training, The Riverside Stadium – Monday 19th November 2018

MAP are pleased to offer you a 1-day Restorative Practice training event which is aimed at PSA’s and Educational Welfare Officers within Middlesbrough schools to support work with parents, carers and families. The training will be held on Monday 19th November 2019 from 8:30 am to 4.00 pm in The Riverside Suite, Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough. If you would like to take advantage of this training offer, then please email map@middlesbrough.gov.uk by 20th September 2018 to secure your place.  The training is free, however there will be a charge of £50 for non-attendance to cover costs of administration and catering for the event.

Council Tax Reduction Claim Form

Middlesbrough residents who are in receipt of universal credit or housing benefit and haven’t claimed council tax reduction, the customer can complete a claim form which can be found here

Lego Clubs

Weekly Lego clubs are currently being run and are suitable for children 4+ and families. Events are run at Central Library every Monday from 4.00 – 5.15 pm and North Ormesby Community Hub every Saturday from 10.00 -11.30 am. Flyers for each event are attached here: Central Library, North Ormesby

DWP: Care to Learn Scheme

The DWP have a ‘Care to Learn’ scheme which can help with childcare costs while students under the age of 20 undertake study. Further details are available here

Work It Out

Work it out is an eight day course designed to equip local residents with improved IT skills to help them navigate Universal Credit and be better prepared to enter the world of work. The course runs Tuesday to Friday for 2 weeks at The Resource Centre, Meath Street, Middlesbrough, with refreshments and a lunchtime sandwich being provided. Early Help Forums

Early Help Forums are now being held on a fortnightly basis, and have been rated by OFSTED as good practice. You can request to bring a case to the Early Help Forum by contacting the Family Partnership Team. Further details can be found here
